This is an exciting opportunity to play an influential role as part of a busy global team engaged on the development and delivery of both ESG and EHS due diligence projects. The ideal candidate will bring extensive consulting experience and work with our existing diligence team to enhance EHS and ESG due diligence service capabilities Our client is a recognized global leader in the provision of environmental and EHS and ESG due diligence, supporting clients in hundreds of M&A transactions each year. They act for many global private equity houses, multi-national businesses (often Fortune 500 firms), property and asset investment and development institutions and legal firms. More specifically: Contribute to the implementation of the due diligence business development plan through the delivery of our commitment to be a recognised top provider for EHS and ESG due diligence in the Private Equity and Legal community by 2025. Proactively engage with existing, as well as identify new strategic and high-profile clients to build trusted relationships, and leverage diligence opportunities, which align with strategic ambitions. Provide technical and commercial leadership on diligence opportunities and projects (often involving multi-site portfolios and multi-person project teams locally, nationally, and globally) by proactively identifying, managing, mitigating, and responding to business risks and opportunities. Ensure that due diligence products are innovative, consider market developments, are technically accurate and meet client requirements. Support the development of the due diligence team through creating, influencing, and sharing knowledge, insight and experience through collaboration, participation, and sharing of expertise. Contribute positively to the financial performance of the due diligence team You will have To be successful as Senior Consultant ESG/EHS , you will bring experience in environmental and health & safety (EHS) and environmental, social, governance (ESG) due diligence ideally from a consulting environment. You must have an expert understanding and a demonstrable both commercial and technical track record of due diligence projects for a wide range of financial, industrial and legal clients. You would be a proven technical leader of EHS and ESG assessments in a due diligence context, have developed expert understanding of M&A deal mechanics and key buy-side and sell-side considerations and have detailed knowledge of key environmental (and preferably some safety) UK and European regulations, and the development of M&A DD practice and associated implications for financial and industrial clients. More specifically, you will have a healthy mix of the following: A proven track record of successful business development through trusted client relationships, resulting in recurring high-value instructions. Experience of delivering successful business development activities (e.g., thought leadership, presentations, etc., resulting in business growth). An ability to visualise company ambitions and conceptualise these into and take personal responsibility for actions to deliver sustainable growth. An expert-level technical understanding of EHS and ESG due diligence and the current/emerging requirements and needs of clients in relation to these issues. Deep understanding of the adversarial nature of business transactions to successfully identify and work on resolution of commercial risk faced on these projects. Extensive experience of leading large multi-facility and multi-jurisdictional vendor and purchaser due diligence projects across a wide range of industrial/commercial sectors. Expert technical understanding of the UK legal framework of environmental (typically contamination-related) liabilities and compliance, including the ability to put these risks and opportunities into context and advise Clients and/or other process stakeholders on liability management options and potential associated financial liabilities. Ability to engage with senior client and transaction team representatives to understand requirements, obtain sufficient information to successfully navigate through the M&A process, and ensure that project outputs succinctly and accurately report findings and deliver client focussed results. Demonstrable experience of motivating, developing and mentoring highly experienced and early career colleagues in technical, commercial and business development aspects. Excellent oral and written communication skills in English; Numerically competent; Ability to use IT packages (including MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook and MS Project).
