ESG Senior Researcher (State Street Bank and Trust Company; Boston, Massachusetts): Conducts Environmental, Social, and Governance ("ESG") research, including model development, data due diligence, evaluating and researching new data sets, and managing the ESG data and R&D platform. The ESG Senior Research is part of the Global ESG team within State Street Global Advisors (SSGA), which includes ESG research and data analysis, ESG integration, ESG strategy, and asset stewardship. Specific duties of the position include: participate in database programming for SSGA ESG data platform, applying data analysis experience within the financial services industry; apply knowledge of advanced mathematical and statistical techniques and security level data to contribute to database management and develop ESG scoring, screening, and analysis models; demonstrate quantitative skills and project management abilities; utilize knowledge of a wide range of ESG and climate datasets in the performance of job duties; write thought pieces and original content on ESG-related topics such as climate solutions, quantitative sustainable investing, negative screening, ESG integration, and other ESG and SRI-related topics; build, own and maintain the broader SSGA ESG data platform and architecture; lead a team of quantitative analysts and ESG researchers to perform quantitative analysis and create quantitative models to power investable products and strategies, as well as ESG reports and factsheets; and support SSGA's reporting efforts by sourcing, collecting, cleaning and providing ESG data and calculations to client reporting and distribution teams, and to meet ESG/climate data disclosure requirements such as EU Taxonomy, SFDR, TCFD for UK Pension Plans, as well as SSGA's Net Zero commitments. Travel required up to 10% (Telecommuting permitted pursuant to company policy.) Minimum requirements are: Master's degree in Finance, or a related field; plus 4 years of related experience in data analysis and quantitative research and analysis within the financial services industry. Must have: Knowledge of database programming and data analysis; knowledge of quantitative models creation; demonstrated experience with security level data in multiple asset classes, including public equities, corporate bonds, sovereign bonds; knowledge of ESG and climate datasets, including ISS, Refinitiv, S&P Trucost, FTSE, MSCI, Climate Bonds Initiative, GRESB, Moody's V.E., BoardEx, TruValue Labs, and Sustainalytics, among others; demonstrated managerial experience, leading a team of quantitative analysts and researchers in a fast-moving, quick-paced financial environment; experience in performing robust analysis and writing academic-level thought pieces and white papers on ESG topics; and ability to collaborate across multiple teams, from investment, distribution, risk, IT, client performing, strategy, and products, by providing analysis, data, technical support, training, as well as support RFPs and client-facing interactions.
