The Legal & Policy Team is Snap's dedicated in-house law firm, policy consultant, lobbyist, thought partner, and all-around advisor. This team helps Snap do the right thing the right way, make better decisions, understand and manage risks, and creatively navigate challenges, both external and internal. We partner with Snap team members on a wide array of matters, including privacy, product, IP, commercial transactions, corporate governance, employment, acquisitions, litigation, and policy, and social impact. We're looking for a Head of Sustainability to join Snap's Integrity & Compliance team!

What you'll do:

  • Lead Snap's sustainability initiatives and coordinate its ESG strategy, including: Snap's Net Negative emissions and other climate-related commitments and strategies; and Snap's Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) reporting, strategy, and partner engagement.

  • Reporting to the Chief Compliance Officer, work in partnership with cross-functional working groups, leaders, and external resources to create and implement strategies, practices, and programs in a fast-growing, values-first company.

  • Advise Snap leadership on a sustainability strategy that's tailored to Snap's strategic objectives and that aligns with the dynamic ESG environment present today.

  • Facilitate Snap's annual GHG emissions inventory and CDP response in partnership with consultants.

  • Refine Snap's Climate Action Plan to help meet Snap's science-based reduction targets, including supplier engagement programs to help decarbonize Snap's supply chain and engagement programs with numerous internal partner

  • Lead Snap's initiative relating to renewable energy and carbon credits, and managing Snap's carbon removal fund.

  • Develop an engagement strategy for the Snap Team and the Snapchat community (users, advertisers and partners).

  • Evaluate and implement carbon accounting software solutions

  • ESG Reporting and Engagement

  • Manage ESG reporting and disclosures including the annual CitizenSnap report aligned to SASB, GRI and TCFD frameworks and in alignment with SEC and EU Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) requirements.

  • Help manage scalable partner engagement programs to proactively engage with investors and investor ratings platforms (S&P CSA, MSCI, Sustainalytics, Bloomberg, etc.), and to respond to partner/customer inquiries.

  • Help to build out data collection systems and processes for ESG data and implement internal reporting governance guidelines to ensure the accuracy and audibility of Snap's ESG data.

  • Serve as the subject matter expert and voice for certain Snap ESG initiatives, representing the company internally with executives, board, and employees, and externally with relevant investors, and partners.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Experience with greenhouse gas accounting and climate action planning (including tracking of emissions reduction initiatives);

  • Experience with ESG reporting and standards/frameworks (e.g., GRI, SASB, TCFD) and familiarity with regulatory development with the SEC and EU CSRD;

  • Strong data management skills and the ability to build and manage auditable record-keeping processes;

  • Outstanding oral, written and presentation communication skills with ability to clearly communicate complex sustainability topics;

  • Exceptional cross-functional leadership and collaboration skills, with the ability to influence executives, leaders, employees, and external partners to meet goals

  • Strategic problem solver who can take complex concepts, apply them to novel situations in a rapidly-growing industry, and find practical business solutions;

  • Strong project management and organizational skills and ability to prioritize and handle multiple projects simultaneously;

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with a strong commitment to Snap's values.

  • Willing and able to travel domestically and internationally as needed.

Minimum qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent years of experience

  • 8+ years of Sustainability experience, including corporate and ESG reporting

Preferred qualifications:
  • 10+ years of Sustainability and ESG experience, with at least 5 in a corporate setting

  • Master's degree in related field

  • CA & WA: The standard base salary for this position is $165,000 - 240,000 Annually

  • NY: The standard base salary for this position is $155,000 - 230,000 Annually

  • This position is eligible for equity in the form of RSUs
